GEORGI ELENKOV is a conductor with a varied practice – from performer of Church Slavonic music, producer and conductor of applied music, producer at the National Radio, conducting lecturer at the Music Academy with a thesis and publication activity. He graduated from the National Academy of Music with a degree in Choral Conducting (2003-2007) and Opera and Symphonic Conducting (2004-2008). He participated in a master class in choral conducting of prof. Fred Stoltzfus (University of Illinois). During various periods he participated as a singer in church choirs (“Protection of Our Most Holy Lady”, St. Nedelya, the Yoan Kukuzel the Angel-Voiced Chamber Ensemble, the Anonym formation), with which he participated in a number of festivals and concert programs.
Since 2013 he has been an invited conductor in the mixed choir of St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral. He has carried out various theoretical and artistic projects: lectures, concerts, recording initiatives, author’s broadcasts in the program “Hristo Botev”, etc. As a music producer at the Bulgarian National Radio since 2012 Elenkov has been involved in the realization of concert projects and studio recordings.
Since 2008 he has been teaching the Fundamentals of Conducting course at the Department of Conducting at the Academy of Music, as well as the Church Music and Liturgical Order course as a full-time Assistant Professor (since 2020) and Senior Assistant Professor of Choral Conducting (since 2021).
