Biography
Soprano GABRIELA GEORGIEVA is among our most outstanding contemporary opera singers. After graduating from the Prof. Pancho Vladigerov Nationl Music Academy, she specialised at the Boris Christoff Bulgarian Academy in Rome, and Ghena Dimitrova and Kaludi Kaludov played a major role in her development as a singer. She began her stage career at the Varna Opera House in 2002. The same year was also her debut at the Sofia Opera House as Amelia in Masked Ball, where she was immediately invited for the roles of Leonora in Il Trovatore and Madalena in André Chenier. In 2003 she made her first recordings for the Bulgarian National Radio. There followed a series of foreign tours - at the First International Opera Festival in Cyprus under the conductorship of Georgi Dimitrov, a tour in Spain and France with conductor Chris Nance, in Germany, at the Palau de la Musica in Barcelona and at the Auditorio Nacional in Madrid, Metropolitan Opera - New York, concerts at the Peter Dvorsky International Music Festival - Czech Republic, Europalia - Belgium, Days of Bulgarian Culture in Russia - Gala Concert at the Bolshoi Theatre. Over the years, guest appearances have also been made on the opera stages in Zagreb, Split and Rijeka in Croatia, Kosice (Slovakia), Maribor (Slovenia), Vienna and Graz (Austria), Bern and Zurich (Switzerland), Mexico City, Toulon (France), at the Split Summer Festivals, "Terme di Caracalla" - Rome, "Katya Popova Laureate Days", "Ivan Spasov Winter Music Evenings", concerts in Italy, Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia, Austria, Germany, the Netherlands, Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, USA, Korea, Japan, France, Russia, Belgium, etc. Since 2006 she has been a soloist of the National Opera and Ballet, among the already many successful roles from her rich repertoire in recent years are the central roles in Pipkov's Yana's Nine Brothers, performed also at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow, Puccini's Turandot on the Opera's tour in Japan, Ariadne auf Naxos by R. Strauss" directed by Vera Nemirova, Beethoven's Fidelio in partnership with the famous bass Kurt Riddle, Kerubini's Medea in Marco Gandini's production with conductor Francesco Rosa, Wagner's Lohengrin under the baton of Constantin Trinks. She has also performed soprano parts in cantata-oratorio works such as Pergolesi's Stabat Mater, Verdi's Requiem, Beethoven's Symphony No. 9, etc. Gabriela Georgieva has had a number of stage performances and recordings under the baton of Georgi Dimitrov.
