Filip Pavlov

Philip Pavlov (b. 1949) graduated from the State Academy of Music in 1974 majoring in Composition under Professor Alexander Raychev. He specialised in Paris and attended an international composition competition in Amsterdam. He had an active performing career. He gave over 1,000 concerts ranging from solo recitals to participation with chamber ensembles and symphony orchestras. He recorded his soloist and chamber performances for the Bulgarian National Radio, the Bulgarian National Television and for foreign recording companies. He has been teaching at the State Academy of Music. In 1998, he was promoted full professor at the South-western University in Blagoevgrad. He was prizewinner at the Svetoslav Obretenov Competition, the competition in Belgrade for chamber music, the piano competition Sinegalia in Italy, the composition competition Valentino Bucci in Roma. He wrote symphony and chamber music; choral songs; musical plays; oratorios, cantatas and vocal cycles; theatre music, children’s songs, a number of which were included in music in textbooks and other music publications. His choral and chamber opuses were frequently performed at festivals, composers’ rostrums and other forums and were included in concert programmes outside Bulgaria.
