Fedor Rudin

Recently appointed Concertmaster of the Vienna State Opera / Vienna Philharmonic, French-Russian violinist FEDOR RUDIN is rapidly establishing himself as one of the most unique and versatile concert artists of today’s generation. Critics acclaim his "brilliant display of artistry on the violin” (Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger). Rudin won the top prizes at prestigious competitions such as Premio Paganini in Genoa and George Enescu in Bucharest, and in 2019 was awarded the Ivry Gitlis Prize in Paris. His most recent album, Reflets, was nominated for the International Classical Music Awards. Fedor Rusin's recent concert engagements included solo debuts at prestigious concert halls like Carnegie Hall’s Stern Auditorium in New York, Berlin Konzerthaus, Paris Philharmonie, Vienna Musikverein and the Tonhalle Zurich, with many world-renowned orchestras including the Basel Symphony Orchestra, the National Orchestra of the Opéra Bastille, the Munich Chamber Orchestra, the Paris Chamber Orchestra, the Cape Town Philharmonic and the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, under the baton of conductors such as Maxim Vengerov, Darrell Ang, Christoph Poppen, Conrad van Alphen, Isaac Karabtchevsky, Daniel Boico, Benjamin Lévy, among others. Rudin is a founding member of the Fratres Trio comprising violin, saxophone and piano. The ensemble was prizewinner at the Illzach international chamber music competition in Mulhouse and the Fnapec competition in Paris, and has received the Supersonic Award by Pizzicato Magazine for their disc Couleurs d’un Rêve. Fedor Rudin has performed with various chamber music partners at the Salzburg Festival, the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, among others. Fedor Rudin also works as conductor of operatic and symphonic ensembles. He has guest-conducted the Georgian National Philharmonic during the 2012-13 concert season at the age of 20, and has had the chance to conduct orchestras such as the Petrobras Symphony Orchestra of Rio de Janeiro, the Moscow Contemporary Music Ensemble, the Lviv Philarmonic, the Orchestra of the Szczecin Opera and the Orquestra Reino de Aragon in Saragossa (Spain). Fedor Rudin was born in Moscow in 1992, into the family of musicians, the grandson of composer Edison Denisov. Living in Paris since the age of two, he has been playing the violin since he was five. Having studied with Zakhar Bron since 2005 at the Cologne High School of Music (Germany), Rudin is pending graduation from the conducting class of Simeon Pironkoff at the Vienna University of Music and Performing Arts. Fedor plays a Lorenzo Storioni violin, made in Cremona in 1779, provided at his disposal by the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben Foundation in Hamburg.
