EMIL PAVLOV (1992) as a third generation tenor singer chose the path of a musician early on. He first studied clarinet and participated in the children’s theatre school at the Konstantin Kisimov Musical and Dramatic Theatre in his hometown of Veliko Tarnovo.
He graduated with a degree in classical singing at the Prof. Pancho Vladigerov Academy of Music (2015), after which he specialized with Bulgarian soprano Krassimira Stoyanova. Since 2017 he has been a soloist at the Plovdiv State Opera and since the 2017/2018 season she has been a soloist at the Sofia Opera and Ballet.
He won first prize at the 10th Crown of Tarnovgrad European Youth Competition (2014), third prize and laureate title at the Svetoslav Obretenov National Competition for Young Instrumentalists and Singers, third prize at the Festival of Russian Classical and Modern Romance Romansiada in Moscow, the Grand Prix of the Third International Music Competition Art Stars, the First Prize of the International Youth Festival Slavic Bell, the Special Prize of the First Competition Stoyan Popov and the Third Place and Audience Award of the 22 Wielki Turniej Tenorow in Szczecin.
He starred in Emmerich Kalman’s operettas Die Csardasfurstin as Edwin, Countess Maritza as Count Tasilo and The Merry Widow by Franz Lehar as Camille de Roussillon.
Emil Pavlov has participated in the operas The Secret Marriage by Domenico Cimarosa in the role of Paolino, The Little Square by Wolf-Ferrari in the role of Giorgeto, The Magic Flute by Mozart in the role of Tamino; Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin as Lenski, Giuseppe Verdi’s La Traviata as Alfred Germont, Nabucco as Ishmael, Don Carlos in the eponymous role, Madame Butterfly as Pinkerton, Elektra by Richard Strauss as Aegisthus, Ariadne auf Naxos as the dance teacher, and in The Flying Dutchman as the Courtier. As a performer in the opera Yana’s Nine Brothers by L. Pipkov he performed on the stage of the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow.
He has appeared in the programmes of some of our international festivals: the Mozart Festival, the Days of Music at Balabanov House, MusikArtisimo, as well as in the concerts of the Sofia Philharmonic. Emil Pavlov has toured in concerts and performances in Germany, Poland, Russia and Malta.
