Elias David Moncado

“The pronunciation of his name stands for that, what he is: A gift.” Anne-Sophie Mutter “Moncado is a warmly communicative and sympathetic player, and there was much to enjoy in his truth-seeking and heart-on-sleeve account.” THE STRAD 22-year-old German-Spanish-Malaysian violinist Elias David Moncado is scholarship holder of the Anne-Sophie Mutter Stiftung since 2023. He is the youngest ever winner of the 1st grand prize as well as 10 special prizes at the International Karol Lipinski Violin Competition 2019 in Poland. Elias won the 1st prize at the Int. Valsesia Musica 2021 as well as the 1st prize at the Int. Vladimir Spivakov Competition 2021. In addition, he is the youngest prizewinner of the 7th International Sendai Violin Competition 2019 in Japan. Furthermore, he is a prizewinner of international competitions such as Louis-Spohr in Weimar, Concorso Postacchini Fermo and Concours International de l’Orchestre du Maroc. In 2023, three tours with Anne-Sophie Mutter and „Mutter´s Virtuosi“ took him to Iceland, USA, Canada and throughout Europe, where he also performed as a soloist next to Mutter at venues like Golden Hall of Musikverein Wien, Berliner Philharmonie, Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, Festspielhaus Baden-Baden, Alte Oper Frankfurt, Philharmonie Luxemburg, Roy Thomson Hall Toronto, Knight Concert Hall Miami, Kravis Center West Palm Beach, Palacio de Festivales Santander as well as Lucerne Festival. Further musical highlights in his young solo-career are his concerts as a debut artist at Nikolaisaal Potsdam from 2020-2022, as well as his debuts 2022 at Meguro Persimmon Hall Tokio and Hitachi Systems Hall Sendai. Elias David Moncado was a soloist of numerous orchestras like Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks, Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra, Philharmonie Baden-Baden, Göttinger Symphonieorchester, Brandenburger Symphoniker, Freiburger Philharmoniker, Sendai Philharmonic Orchestra, MAV Budapest Symphony Orchestra and Wroclaw Opera Symphony Orchestra. He performed with conductors such as Vladimir Spivakov, Ken Takaseki, Fabrice Bollon, Nicolás Pasquet, Heiko Mathias Förster and Ryusuke Numajiri. As a soloist he played at festivals such as the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival, Festspiele Mecklenburg Vorpommern, Kissinger Musiksommer, Mozartfestival Schloss Schwetzingen, Rhein-Ruhr Festival Recklinghausen and as a chamber musician at the Gstaad Menuhin Festival. He appeared on RBB Berlin, WDR Köln, France Musique, France 3, SWR2 and BR Klassik. His highly critical acclaimed Debut-CD was released 2022 with Avi-Music with works by Hindemith, Poulenc and Bartók . Elias David Moncado was born in 2000. He started playing violin at the age of four with Keiko Yoshino Skiba and Prof. Rainer Kussmaul at the prestigious Pflügerstiftung Freiburg school for young talents. At the age of 6, he won the 1st prize with top honors at „Jugend Musiziert“ for solo violin. He was aged 10 when he became the youngest ever recipent of the Europäischer Hoffnungspreis in the history of the European Cultural Foundation Pro Europa. At the age of 12, he made his debut at the Berliner Philharmonic with the Deutsches Kammerorchester Berlin. One year later, Elias David Moncado received the Deutsch-Französischen Förderpreis of the Deutsch-Französische Gesellschaft Freiburg. Elias David Moncado studied with Professors Latica Honda-Rosenberg, Zakhar Bron and Pierre Amoyal at tat the Julius-Stern-Institut of Universität der Künste Berlin at the University Mozarteum Salzburg. Elias David Moncado is studying as a young soloist at the Kronberg Academy with Prof. Mihaela Martin since autumn 2023. These studies are funded by the Benno und Ursula Stork-Wersborg-Patronage. He receives further musical inspiration from Prof. Ana Chumachenco, Prof. Yuzuko Horigome, Prof. Ingolf Turban, Prof. Ettore Causa and Prof. Maxim Vengerov. He is a scholarship holder of the Freunde Junger Musiker Berlin, Internationale Musikakademie Liechtenstein, Bernbeck-Stiftung, Gerd-Bucerius-Stiftung, Kulturstiftung Baden-Württemberg, Jürgen Ponto Stiftung and Gen Re. As a prizewinner and scholarship holder of the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben Hamburg, he plays a violin by Giovanni Battista Rogeri of Brescia (around 1700).
