ELENA MEHANDZHIYSKA (Soprano) graduated in classical singing at the South-West University in Blagoevgrad, then pursued her studies with Prof. Mila Dyulgerova. She took part in two consecutive master classes, as well as in the final concerts of the famous Bulgarian opera singer, kammersingerin and professor at the Vienna Conservatory Elena Filipova. She specialized in opera singing in Vienna with Prof. Theodore Koresi.
She gave concerts at the Pygmalion Theatre in Vienna. Elena studied interpretation with Maestro Mihail Angelov and worked with one of the greatest musical experts, Richard Trimborn. Elena Mehandzhiyska made her debut on the stage of the Sofia Opera in the role of Sigrún from Wagner’s Die Walküre and performed this role in the company’s tour at the Bolshoi Theatre. She also performed the same role at the Wagner Festival in Sofia in 2023. She participated in gala opera concerts of Sofia and Rousse Opera. She appears as a soloist of the Sofia Philharmonic in cantata-oratorio, symphonic and chamber works.
Elena Mehandzhiyska is part of the BELLA VOCE vocal ensemble, with which she performs chamber concerts on the stage of the Sofia Philharmonic. The ensemble has been nominated three times for the Crystal Lyre – Ensemble of the Year. Elena Mehandzhiyska has been nominated in the Allegro Vivace Musician of the Year 2019. She has been a soloist of chamber ensembles such as Quarto Quartet, Sofia Soloists, Sofia Quartet, ClassicArt, Frosch Quartet, etc. She has recorded for the Bulgarian National Radio. She has participated in the Festival “pPIANISSIMO” with the pianist Margarita Ilieva. Elena has given concerts with one of the most outstanding Bulgarian pianists Rostislav Yovchev. She also met the young outstanding Turkish pianist Doğaç Bezdüz on stage.
She has soloed under the baton of Mihail Angelov, Georgi Dimitrov, Uroš Lajovic, Plamen Djourov, Nayden Todorov, Velizar Genchev, Grigor Palikarov, Pavel Baleff, Michel Brousseau, Konstantin Ilievsky, Slavil Dimitrov, among others.
