Biography

The baritone DANIEL KIM SUNGGYEUL was born in South Korea. He graduated music from Yonsei University, then studied at the Milan Conservatory and the Civic Music School in the Lombardy region. He has specialized in the master classes of Raina Kabaivanska. He has won numerous prizes in Italian opera competitions, also making his debut in theater in various roles: from Renato from Verdi’s Un ballo in Maschera to Ford at Verdi’s Falstaff and at the Belcore of Donizetti’s l’Elisir d’amore and at the Figaro Il Barbiere di Siviglia by Rossini. The audience has applauded him in concert at the Teatro Vittoria in Turin, at the Palladium in Rome and at the Teatro Olimpico in Vicenza. He was a guest in the concert hall of the Amici del loggione del Teatro alla Scala Association. He took part in at the Summer gala Concert at the Castello Sforzesco. His participation in the cantata-oratorio repertoire is highly appreciated: In France he was highly regarded protagonist of Charpentier’s Messe de Minuit and in Korea he was appreciated both as a performer of Handel’s Messiah and Haydn’s Mass. He participated at the Teatro Comunale Pavarotti on the occasion of the celebrations in memory of Luciano Pavarotti and participated in the concert for the anniversary of the birth of the Modenese tenor. In 2019 he interpreted Leoncavallo’s Requiem, directed by Janos Acs, for its Italian premiere.
