Dalton Guin

Dalton Guin, a native of Erwin, North Carolina, began his musical life at home, with a family that loved music, and in the choir loft of a Southern Baptist church. At 11 years old, when he began studying trumpet and horn, he made the decision to spend the rest of his life in musical pursuits. Guin served in the United States Marine Corps as a French Horn Instrumentalist from 2011 - 2018. During his two tours he achieved the rank of Sergeant, and served with the Marine Forces Pacific Band in Kaneohe Bay, Hawai’I; and Marine Corps Band New Orleans in New Orleans, Louisiana. Over this period Guin served in various capacities, from music librarian and public affairs non-commissioned officer to assistant and acting Enlisted Conductor. Guin holds a Bachelor’s of Music in Performance (University of North Carolina at Greensboro, 2023), where he studied with Dr. Abagail Pack. He holds a Master’s of Music Performance in Instrumental Conducting (University of North Carolina at Greensboro, 2025) where he studied with Dr. Jungho Kim and Dr. Jonathan Caldwell. Guin is currently pursuing a Doctorate of Musical Arts in Orchestral Conducting, Pedagogy, and Literature at James Madison University in the studio of Dr. Kira Omelchenko.
