Borislav Yotsov

Born in Sofia in 1966 into a family of famous Bulgarian musicians, BORISLAV YOTSOV graduated from the Pancho Vladigerov National Academy of Music Sofia as a student in the clarinet class of Prof. Sava Dimitrov, subsequently completing post-graduate studies at master classes with Michel Arrignon at the National Conservatory in Paris, and with Mark Nuccio at the Duquesne University of Pittsburgh, USA. First-prize winner on several national competitions in Bulgaria and laureate of the fourth prize at the Prince Philip Competition in Brussels, Yotsov is currently an associate professor at the Pancho Vladigerov National Academy of Music and a teacher at the Lyubomir Pipkov National School of Music in Sofia. Having performed on numerous solo recitals and as soloist to all symphony orchestras of Bulgaria, Borislav Yotsov boasts concert activity extending to Europe, America, Japan, and New Zealand. His repertoire includes a diverse range of music for clarinet, clarinet with piano, and clarinet with orchestra, many of them performed and recorded for the first time in Bulgaria. In 2004, he was voted Musician of the Year by the Allegro Vivace Program on the Bulgarian National Radio, and in 2005 was awarded the Crystal Lyre by the Union of the Bulgarian Musicians and Dancers as Instrumentalist of the Year. Founder of Studio Five Club and representative for Bulgaria of the International Clarinet Association (ICA), Yotsov is also a graduate of the conducting class of Maestro Nayden Todorov at the New Bulgarian University. Borislav Yotsov functions as Artistic Director and conductor of the New Symphony Orchestra.
