Biography

BORIS ANDRIANOV (Violoncello) is celebrated for his expressive artistry, technical mastery, and broad international career as a soloist, chamber musician, and festival director. He studied at the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory with Natalia Shakhovskaya, and continued his training at the Hanns Eisler Hochschule für Musik in Berlin with David Geringas. He has won major international competitions – including first prizes at the Antonio Janigro International Cello Competition in Zagreb, awards in Johannesburg, Hannover, Paris (Concours de violoncelle Rostropovich), and South Korea (Isang Yun Competition) – and was a prize‑winner at the International Tchaikovsky Competition. He has performed as a soloist with leading orchestras. He collaborating with artists like Yuri Bashmet, Menahem Pressler, Janine Jansen, Julian Rachlin, Denis Matsuev and Maxim Vengerov. Andrianov has premiered works by Giya Kancheli, Krzysztof Penderecki, Giovanni Sollima, Michael Berkeley, and Pavel Karmanov. His discography includes recordings with guitarist Dmitry Illarionov (a Delos release long‑listed for a Grammy), acclaimed sonata albums with pianist Rem Urasin (Gramophone Editor’s Choice), еtc. He founded and directs the international Vivacello and Vivarte festivals in Moscow, leads the nationwide Star Generation and Musical Expedition, and has been a professor at the Moscow Conservatory since 2009. He performs on a Carlo Bergonzi cello from the Russian State Collection of Unique Musical Instruments.
