BOMSORI is considered one of the most dynamic and exciting violinists of our time. From 2021 she has an exclusive contract with the Deutsche Grammophon label.
Highlights in the 2023/24 season include her debuts at the BBC Proms with the BBC Philharmonic, at the Hollywood Bowl with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, with the Radio France Philharmonic Orchestra, the Pittsburgh Symphony, the National Orchestra of Spain, at the Concertgebouw with the Resident Orchestra and at the Wiener Konzerthaus with the Vienna Symphony Orchestra. There will also be tours with the Tonhalle Orchestra – Zurich conducted by Paavo Järvi and with the Vienna Symphony Orchestra in Asia. She will be soloing with the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, the Singapore Symphony Orchestra and the Lucerne Festival Orchestra at the Elbphilharmonie Hall in Germany.
Bomsori was the Focus Artist of the Rheingau Musik Festival 2021 and in the same year began a 5-year residency at the Gstaad Menuhin Festival as Menuhin’s Heritage Artist. She has appeared in renowned concert halls such as the Musikverein Golden Hall in Vienna, Carnegie Hall, Tchaikovsky Hall in Moscow, Finlandia Hall in Helsinki, Herkuleszaal and Prinzregentententheater in Munich, Konzerthaus in Berlin, and Rudolfinum in Prague. She has performed under the batons of Fabio Luisi, Jaap van Zweden, Marin Alsop, Alain Altinoglu, Vasily Petrenko, Hannu Lintu, Sakari Oramo, John Storgards, Pablo Heras-Casado, Giancarlo Guerrero, with leading orchestras including the New York Philharmonic, San Francisco Symphony, Montreal Symphony, Bavarian, Finnish and North German Radio (NDR) Symphony Orchestras, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, National Orchestra of Belgium, Warsaw and Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestras, Camerata Salzburg and Basel Chamber Orchestra.
In addition to winning the ARD International Music Competition, Bomsori is a prize winner of the Tchaikovsky International Competition, Queen Elisabeth Competition, International Jean Sibelius Violin Competition, Joseph Joachim International Violin Competition, Hannover, International Henrik Wieniawski Violin Vompetition and Montreal International Music competition.
In 2017, Warner Classical released her debut album of concertos by Wieniawski and Shostakovich, and her second album with pianist Rafał Blechacz and her solo album Violin On Stage were released by Deutsche Grammophon.
Born in South Korea, she got her B.A. from Seoul University and her M.A. from Juilliard School, where she studied with Sylvia Rosenberg and Ronald Copps.
Bomsori plays a Guarnerius del Gesù violin “ex-Moller,” Cremona, 1725, on loan from the Samsung Cultural Foundation in South Korea and the Stradivari Society of Chicago, Illinois.
