Bernhard Vogl

BERNHARD VOGL (Cello) was born in Vienna and received his first cello lesson at the age of six. From 1982 – 1988 he studied under Prof. Krumböck at the Conservatory of the City of Vienna, followed at the Academy of Music and Art under Prof. Wolfgang Herzer. He graduated in 2001 with distinction. Bernhard Vogl also attended master classes by Wolfgang Böttcher, Josef Luitz, Antonio Lysy, H. Schapiro, Anne Bijlsma and Dimitri Fertschmann. he was on an Erasmus scholarship studying in a master class under Prof. Dimitri Fetschmann in Amsterdam. In 1993 Bernhard Vogl had his debut as soloist with the Vienna Hochschulorchester in the great hall of the Konzerthaus in Vienna. During his studies he was solo cellist of the Vienna Jeunesse Orchestra and substitute at the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, where he worked for ten years with conductors such as Riccardo Muti, Zubin Mehta, Claudio Abbado, Mariss Jansons, Bernhard Haitink, Heinrich Schiff, Friedrich Guldam among others. He was presented with prizes by the Chamber Musical Festival Austria, radio Lower Austria, etc. Bernhard Vogl made numerous radio and television recordings. His partners in chamber music are Philippe Jordan, Peter Gülke, Marilena Fernandez, Clemens Zeilinger, Daniel Sepez, Dessislava Atanassova, Margarete Babinsky, Nadja and Erich Höbarth. He performed as a soloist in concerts in Japan, Hong Kong, Germany, Hungary, Bulgaria, Poland, Cyprus, Malta, Lithuania, Czech Republic, Serbia, Italy, United Kingdom, Russia and USA. He took part in further concerts as soloist with the Vienna Chamber Orchestra, the Graz Philharmonic Orchestra, the Anton Rubinstein Philharmonic, the Mendelssohn Chamber Orchestra and the Belgrade Chamber Philharmonic. In addition to his solo work, Bernhard Vogl has given numerous concerts with the Vogl String Trio (together with violinist Iva Hölzl-Nikolova and his wife, violist Elissaveta Staneva-Vogl) in Austria, Croatia, Germany, Poland, China and Bulgaria. The Austrian company Gramola released their performance of the two Max Reger's String Trios on CD in 2012. The trio recorded in Bulgarian National Radio Rumen Baliozov's Trialogue, a piece written especially for the ensemble. Bernhard Vogl is also the cellist of the Phil Quartet, performing actively with them and taking part in productions of the Graz Opera and Ballet. Since 2000 he has been the solo cellist of the Graz Philharmonic Orchestra at the opera of Graz.
