Biography

Georgian Мezzo‑soprano Baia Saganelidze graduated in piano from the P. I. Tchaikovsky Music School in Yerevan (2014), earned a bachelor’s degree in International Relations and Diplomacy from the Georgian Technical University (2015), and completed her vocal studies at the Tbilisi State Conservatory (2023). She continued her specialization at the Sibelius Academy in Finland. Saganelidze is a two‑time participant in Raina Kabaivanska’s masterclasses and a scholarship recipient of the Raina Kabaivanska Fund at New Bulgarian University. She studied at the Vecchi–Tonelli Music Institute (2023–2026) and further specialized at the International Opera Academy in Modena (2025/2026). Her operatic repertoire includes Maddalena (Rigoletto), Amneris (Aida), Azucena (Il trovatore), and Flora (La traviata) by Verdi; Marcellina and Cherubino (Le nozze di Figaro) by Mozart; Berta (Il barbiere di Siviglia) by Rossini; Lyubasha (The Tsar’s Bride) by Rimsky‑Korsakov; Nano in Zakaria Paliashvili’s Daisi; and Barbare in Viktor Dolidze’s Keto and Kote, among others. She has appeared in concert recitals in Georgia, Finland, Switzerland, Germany, Bulgaria, and Italy, and has performed as a soloist in Verdi’s Requiem, Mozart’s Requiem, and Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater. In February 2026 she made her debut at the Teatro Comunale “Pavarotti–Freni” in Modena in I quattro ruffiani by Ermanno Wolf‑Ferrari, and in October and November 2026 she will appear in Verdi’s Lady Macbeth.
