Biography

Born in Sofia into a family of opera musicians, ATANAS MLADENOV (baritone) graduated with honours from the Prof. Pancho Vladigerov National Academy of Music in the class of opera singing of Prof. Niko Isakov. He specialized in Rome at the Boris Hristov Bulgarian Cultural Institute and at the Conservatoire di Rossini in Pesaro, Italy. He participated in academies and master classes in opera singing in Bulgaria, Italy and Spain. His repertoire includes roles such as Count Almaviva in Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro, Papageno in The Magic Flute (Mozart), Count Robinson in The Secret Marriage by Cimarosa, Germano in The Silken Ladder by Rossini, Mustafa from Adina and the Caliph of Baghdad by Rossini, Gasparo in Donizetti’s Rita, as well as numerous cantata - oratorios, song cycles, etc. Since 2012 Atanas Mladenov has been a soloist at the Sofia Opera and Ballet, on whose stage he sings Belcore in Elixir of Love by Donizetti, Ping in Turandot by Puccini, Albert in Masne’s Werther, Frederic in Lakme by Delibes, Zurga in The Pearl Fishers by Bizet, Borislav in Maestro Georgi Atanasov's opera of the same name, Hadzhi Simon in Lazar Nikolov's Chatterers, Dandini in Rossini's Cinderella, Figaro in The Barber of Seville, Onegin in Eugene Onegin and Prince Eletsky in The Queen of Spades by Tchaikovsky, Rodrigo, Marquis Posa in Don Carlos and Georges Germont in La Traviata by Verdi, etc. He starred in Wagner's operas Twilight of the Gods (from the Ring of the Nibelung tetralogy) as Gunther, Tristan und Isolde as Curvenal, and Parsifal as Amfortas, as well as in Richard Strauss's operas Elektra, where he sings Orestes, and Ariadne auf Naxos as Harlequin.
