The Italian conductor ANDREA VITELO has recently gained an international reputation thanks to his Warner Classics CD "Octets" with I Solisti della Scala. The project was praised with words such as: “imposing performance” (Enrico Girardi, il Corriere della Sera), “highest standards of intonation and blend” and “beautifully lyrical and detailed” (Remy Franck, Pizzicato). The conductor regularly collaborates with several orchestras and ensembles in Europe, USA, Russia and Asia, such as I Solisti del Teatro alla Scala di Milano, “ERT” Greek National Radio Television Orchestra, Budapest Symphony Orchestra MÁV, Thessaloniki Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra Sinfonica di Sanremo, The Soloists of Russia Chamber Orchestra, Korea Soloists Orchestra, Argento Ensemble New York, Koszalin Philharmonic Orchestra, Khabarovsk Symphony Orchestra, National Opera Plovdiv etc. Andrea has conducted in venues such as Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari, Sala Verdi in Milan, Seul Art Center in Seul, etc. At the prestigious Carnegie Hall in New York, Vitello conducted Stravinsky's The Soldier's Tale featuring the actor John Paladino. In the context of the same program, he conducted the first New York performance of Тhe Bronze Age by the French composer Tristan Murail. Andrea Vitello graduated from Conservatorio Giovanni Battista Martini in Bologna, composition and choral conducting in the class of Gian Paolo Lupi. He studied orchestral conducting at the Pescara Music Academy with Donato Renzetti. He specializes in contemporary repertoire with Marco Angius and Sandro Gorli in Treviso and Milan. He is the founder and artistic director of the European Union Conducting Competition, which has been held in Sofia and Pazardzhik since 2018, a competition that provides musicians of all nationalities, no age restriction, with the opportunity to participate and win performing on prestigious stages in Europe. Vitello is also the founder of the Antal Doráti International Competition for Orchestral Conductors in Budapest, the Capriccio Italiano festival in Florence and others. He is the director of Artes School, the largest private music school in the Prato region of Italy. A musician with diverse interests, Andrea Vitello is an inspired interpreter of contemporary music. He conducted premiéres -both in concert and recording- by authors such as Peter Eötvös, Tristan Murail, Oliver Schneller, Andrea Portera, Alessio Elia, Albertas Navickas, Rita Ueda and many others. The conductor promotes young composers discovering and conducting their music. He has been twice awarded with "Five Stars" by Music Magazine for his recordings of Arnold Schoenberg's Pierrot lunaire (voiced by Anna Clementi and BIOS Ensemble) and the Octet by Peter Eötvös (with I Solisti del Teatro alla Scala). Andrea is also an enthusiast ambassador of Italian music and has rediscovered and conducted several neglected works by less known Italian composers, such as Guido Alberto Fano, Silvio Omizzolo, Mario Pilati, Gian Francesco Malipiero.
