Andrea Caré is one of the most renowned operatic tenors of his generation. He was born in 1981 in Turin. In 2005, while studying at the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory there, he had already won one of the most prestigious opera competitions in Italy, the A. Belli International Singing Competition (Spoleto). The same year he made his debut in Spoleto, at the Caio Melisso and San Niccolò theatres, performing the part of Yarbas in Baldassare Galuppi’s The Abandoned Dido (recorded for the Italian label Bongiovanni) and Lord Arturo from Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor. He began an active career after perfecting his technique with soprano Raina Kabaivanska and tenor Luciano Pavarotti. In 2007 he made his debut as Alfredo in Verdi’s La Traviata at the Sejyong Center in Seoul, then performed the role again at the Teatro Verdi in Terni, the Teatro Alighieri in Ravenna in 2008 and the Teatro Reggio in Turin in 2009.

In Turin, he made his debut in 2008 as Jason in Cherubini’s Medea, performing the same role again in 2009 at Teatro Bellini – Catania and at the Grand Theatre – Geneva in 2015.  In 2008 he was the protagonist, Pollione, in Bellini’s Norma at the Teatro Comunale in Bologna.  Andrea performed this role again at the Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari (2012),  the Grand Theatre of Bordeaux (2015) and the Gran Teatre del Liceu,  Barcelona (2015).

In 2009, Andrea Caré took on the role of Don José in Bizet’s Carmen, which became a landmark for him, at the summer festival Terme di Caracalla in Rome. He has performed this role many times around the world in productions by Palm Beach Opera (2010), the Hamburg and Berlin State Operas, Teatro San Carlo Naples, the Royal Opera of Sweden in Stockholm and Teatro Lirico in Cagliari (2011), Teatro Verdi in Trieste (2012), Royal Opera House in London (2015 and 2018), Teatro Real in Madrid (2017), Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow and Teatro Reggio in Turin (2019), Dresden Semperoper (2022), Royal Danish Opera in Copenhagen (2022 and 2023). Other roles frequently performed by Andrea include Pinkerton, Cavaradossi, Don Carlos and Radames. As Pinkerton from Madama Butterfly, the singer made his opera debut at the Savonlinna Opera Festival (Finland) and at the Teatro Reggio in Turin (2010) and the Rome Opera (2012), Canadian Opera Company in Toronto (2014), Teatro Real in Madrid (2017) , Vienna State Opera (2018), Metropolitan Opera in New York (2019), Odeon di Herodes Atticus in Athens (2023). He made his debut as Cavaradossi from Puccini’s Tosca at the State Opera Stuttgart and at the Opéra Reine – Strasbourg (2013), at the Gran Teatro de Liceu – Barcelona (2014), Michigan Opera in Detroit, Teatro Reggio – Parma and Finnish National Opera – Helsinki (2018), Opera de Rouen (2020), Theatre La Monet – Brussels (2021) and Teatro Wielki – Warsaw (2023).

The role of Don Carlos from Verdi’s opera of the same name saw him debut at the Bolshoi Theatre – Moscow (2013), Vancouver Opera (2014), Opera de la Reine – Strasbourg (2016), Palace of Arts – Valencia (2017), Teatro Real – Madrid (2019), Teatro Pavarotti – Modena (2021). His debut as Radames from Verdi’s Aida was at the Tangelwood Festival (2015) , La Monnet Theatre – Brussels (2017) and the Royal Swedish Opera in Stockholm (2018).

Andrea has worked for renowned directors such as Christof Loy, Olivier Py, Barrie Kosky, Pier Luigi Pizzi, Hugo de Ana, Calixto Bieito, Adrian Noble, Francesca Zambello, Damiano Michieletto, and sung under the batons of great conductors such as Bruno Bartoletti, Gianandrea Noseda,Nicola Luisotti, Marco Armiliato, Jakub Hrůša, Riccardo Chailly, Giampaolo Bisanti and has had the privilege of singing duets with Raina Kabaivanska, Placido Domingo, Violeta Urmana, Elīna Garanča, Kristine Opolais, Maria Guleghina, to name but a few.
