Anatoly Svechnikov

Anatoly Svechnikov (1908-1962) was a Ukrainian composer from the Soviet era. He was born in Kyiv and graduated from the National Theatre, Cinema and Television University in his hometown, where he studied composition with Vasily Zolotaryov and Lev Revutsky. In 1938, he continued his music education at the Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky National Music Academy of Ukraine. He has served as music director of a number of drama theatres and in the Ukrainian radio. In the period 1945-1961, he taught composition and counterpoint at the Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky National Music Academy of Ukraine. He wrote ballets, symphonic poems, instrumental and vocal music, arrangements of folk songs, as well as music for films.
