ALEXANDROS STAVRAKAKIS (Bass) is a Graduate of the Athens Conservatory, class of  Despina Kalafatis in 2014, and was awarded a scholarship in the name of Maria Callas. He continued his studies with Ludmila Ivanova, while from 2017 he holds a Meister Diplom from Carl Maria von Weber music academy in Dresden, class of KS Matthias Henneberg.
He has been a member of the Semperoper Dresden since 2018 where among other he appears as Vodnik (in Dvorak’s Rusalka), Oroveso (Norma by Bellini), Il Grande Inquisitor (Don Carlos by Verdi), Colline (La boheme by Puccini), Eremit (Freischütz by Weber), Commendatore in Mozart’s Don Giovanni), Gremin (in Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin.

In the summer of 2019 he won the first prize of the 16th  Tchaikovsky International Competition and made his debut at the Bosloi Theater as Basilio in Il barbiere di Siviglia by Rossini. From then on he has developed active international carrier. He has appeared at theaters such as, Metropolitan Opera  of  New  York, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Bayerische  Staatsoper  Munich, Bordeaux National Opera, Teattro  Massimo  di Palermo, Greek National Opera and international festivals like Aix en Provence, Verbier and Elmau.

Τhis season will find him giving his debut as Filippo II in Verdi’s Don Carlos in Semperoper Dresden, and making his first appearance at Théâtre des Champs-Élysées Paris as Alidoro in Cenerentola.

Future seasons include house debuts at Teatro del Liceu Barcelona, Houston Grand Opera and L’Opéra national de Paris.

He has given recitals in Greece and abroad. He had the opportunity to collaborate with conductors such as Sir Simon Rattle, Christian Thielemann, Valery Gergiev, Thomas Hengelbrock, Nikolaj Znaider, Johanna Malwitz, Omer-Meier Welber, Gábor Takács-Nagy, Raphaël Pichon and Danielle Rustioni, among others.
