Akihiro Komori

Japanese composer Akihiro Komori (1931-2016) was born in Tokyo. He graduated from Keio University School of Medicine in 1957, and worked then as a brain surgeon. At the same time, he studied music composition under Japanese composer Tomojirō Ikenouchi. Komori was a member of the Japan Surgical Society, a board member of the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, a managing director of the Japan Federation of Composers, and a board member of the Association of Children's Song Writers, among others. He composed music for anime movies, and TV children's programs. Komori is best known for the music of The Wild Swans, Hanaori, Bannertail: The Story of Gray Squirrel, and Belle and Sebastian.
